Description:

The Practical Special is a subtly modified version of the Practical Katana, made in response to requests for a quicker sword at the same economy price. The blade dimensions have been changed only slightly and the tsuba cutouts have been enlarged, and though this has resulted in a weight loss of only 3 oz., the difference in handling is very noticeable. The Practical will remain the standard for hard, regular cutting but for those needing a faster draw, multiple cut katana at an economy price, the Special is the answer.

Description:

The 2.45 shaku (29″) hand forged and polished blade is made from high quality T-10 High Speed Tool Steel, chosen because of its relative tensile strength and scratch resistant properties (HRC 58-62 on the edge and 54-56 on the spine) and has a bo-hi (fuller) to lighten and balance the it to achieve optimal performance.

The blade has a full length nakago (tang) and is differentially hardened with a natural hamon. It also has a sharper blade than the basic SBG Kuramono Katana, with a sueprior 12 step polishing process applied instead of the traditional 10 step process. The brass habaki is carefully fitted to the blade, which fits perfectly into a textured black saya with extra thick and hard wearing brown sageo. The tsuba is made of solid brass, depicting two tigers stalking through a bamboo jungle. The tsuka is 11″ long and perfectly friction fitted to the blade and secured with two top quality bamboo mekugi. The tsuka is extremely tightly wrapped (in the correct, alternating style) over real black rayskin with high quality brown synthetic silk ito as default that is actually TOUGHER wearing than REAL silk (but from an aesthetic sense is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing). The tsuka assembly has high quality solid brass, silvered menuki ornaments, depicting a dragon. Made for both performance, aesthetics and durability – this is a Katana built to stand the tests of time.

Description:

The Daimyo 1095 line is the quintessence of a Japanese sword – beauty and function perfectly united. This is a result of a sophisticated process, revealing a Japanese weapon’s traditional form enclosed in a hand-forged blade, brought to a deadly and beautiful mirror finish. At the heart of this blade is a high-carbon steel, a material so pure it does not demand the folding techniques used to removed impurities from lesser metal. The 1095 blades exhibit outstanding durability, a superior edge and the ability to outperform traditional materials.

Efficient and meticulously crafted, the Daimyo 1095 line is hand-polished from imported Japanese stones. As they sharpen and clean the blade, our polishers bring out the subtle details of the smith’s metalwork. This intensive polishing defines the lines of the blade and enlivens the Hamon, the fine grain of the steel and its color and texture.

These high-performance weapons exude superior balance and craftsmanship. Our 1095 blades are available from 28.5” to 32.5” in length. The blades with Hi are ideal for the practice of Iaido, at 2.2lbs with fittings. Without Hi, the blades are made from the ground up for Tameshigiri, including added Niku and mass (2.6lbs)

Manufacturer Link: http://www.dynastyforge.com/index.php/Bushi-Class-1095-High-Carbon/28-1095-Bushi-Katana-in-Wave-Theme-Gloss/Detailed-product-flyer.html

Description:

Starting with a single pure billet of 1095 steel, the blade is hand-forged until malleable and shaped to form. The Bushi 1095 blades then undergo the traditional clay-tempering process. The resulting white Hamon lends the steel another layer of intricacy as well as creates a differentially hardened edge. The Bushi line is given a high-grade hybrid polish. Using modern techniques and machinery, the blade is shaped and rough polished. The final stages of polishing are done by hand to ensure a smooth and elegant finish. This process, while faster than a traditional hand-polish, also tends to be more resistant to scratching and wear and tear while still displaying the Hamon, making it ideal or mid-range swords meant for either use or collection.

The Bushi 1095 line strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modern materials at an incredible value. Offering the same strength and geometry of our popular Daimyo 1095 line combined with a harder wearing hybrid polish, the Bushi 1095 line excels as a functional sword. Our Bushi class offers great value while remaining faithful to the principles of superior Japanese sword design and esthetic’s.

Description:

The blade is hand-forged from a single pure billet of 1060 spring steel and shaped and polished by machine. This gives the 1060 line very crisp lines and a durable and easy to maintain polish. Being machine polished, the edge can easily be touched up with a hone without any detriment to the finish, making the blade a high-performance but low-cost cutting sword. The blade is through-tempered, not requiring a differential temper for durability, to a Rockwell hardness of approximately 52-53. The blade is then mounted in traditional furniture, with genuine ox-horn fittings, natural lacquer, and Same panels. The blade can be fully disassembled for easy maintenance.

The Musha class of weapons offers practicality at an elevated level. The focus is on durability and performance – these swords are a perfect introduction to the arcane of the Samurai warrior tradition. These well-balanced, robust blades are made of exceptionally resilient 1060 spring steel. The utilitarian design, offering no more than what is required to fulfill its purpose, makes this a superior handling sword offering surprisingly strong cutting performance at a very reasonable price.

Raptor Series Shobu Zukuri Katana

9

Specification:

Manufacturer: Cas Hanwei
Condition: Like new, used for Iaido trainings only
Total length: 106 cm
Blade length: 74 cm
Kissaki: Shobu style
Bo-Hi: No
Tsuka: 33 cm
Weight: 1200 gr
High Carbon Steel: 5160 Steel
Temper: Mono-Tempered
Polish: Machine polish
Sugata: Shobu Zukuri
Fittings: Iron Tsuba, Fuchi, Kashira Raptor/Bird Themed
Habak&Seppa: Brass Habaki, Copper Seppa
Tsuka Ito: Black-Suede Leather
Saya: Ishime (Black-Matt)
Fully dis-mountable: yes

Manufacturer Link: http://casiberia.com/prod_Detail.aspx?id=SH2417

Description:

This particular sword is based on a graceful shobu zukuri style. Shobu means “iris leaf” and this blade shows a very traditional lighter, more elegant style of shobu than most robust Shobu Katana. The tsuka is wrapped with a black suede ito in katatemaki style (the so-called “battle wrap” or “one arm” style). The black saya has a simple stone texture.

Key Features:
– A Tough 5160 Through Hardened Shobu Zukuri sugata
– Traditional Construction
– Simple, elegant koshirae

The Raptor Series is the result of this cooperative effort.

The fittings are simple and based on the raptors, birds of prey. A gaudy, flashy mount for this sword would be out of place as these swords are meant for serious use. The sword is made of high performance unfolded 5160 steel, a high carbon steel renouned for its strength and durability. The blade has been heat treated in a non-traditional fashion to create a strong, durable modern blade. As a result the Raptors do not have a hamon.
This sword is non-traditional metallurgically but is made to be a modern, robust, strong, durable blade ideal for those new to Japanese Sword Arts. The blade’s geometry was also designed to be fully traditional in cross section but still robust to allow for higher performance under harder usage.

Total length: 102,5 cm
Blade length: 75 cm, incl. habaki
Kissaki: Chu Kissaki
Bo-Hi: No
Tsuka: 26,5 cm
Weight: 1150 gr
High Carbon Steel: T10
Temper: Differentially Tempered
Polish: Hand polish
Sugata: Shinogi Zukuri
Hamon: Gunome Midare

Habak&Seppa: Brass Habaki, Silver Seppa
Tsuka Ito: Purple-Silk
Saya: Ishime (Black-Matt)
Fully dis-mountable: yes
Certificate: Yes
Custom made: Yes

Description:

The katana is hand-forged from T10 high-carbon steel. This steel is strong and flexible. The blade is differentially tempered using traditional clay method, the hardness reaches a larger cut of the back, resulting in a nuanced and beautiful hamon. This has the main advantages of excellent cutting-edge features and the softer and tougher back ensures an excellent attenuation of the beatings. The leaf is traditionally hand-polished and really sharp because the edge is sharpened Japanese whetstone.
The blade has no Bo-Hi so that more massive and less breakable, more resistant to hard targets. The Dragon Fly Katana Sword Arts of Kanei without Bo-Hi is very suitable for tameshigiri.
The extraordinary thing is that the katana Tsuba, Fuchi, menuki, Kashira and cotton are imported from Japan. The scabbard or saya has a black appearance and the sheath structure consists of black Japanese cotton cord. The grip or tsuka is covered with genuine ray skin and white or winding handle tsuka-ito is in Japanese purple cotton. The tsuba displays the water theme again, a nice combination with the dragonfly kashira.
Although you obviously Katana well as decoration can use this katana is really functional and suitable tameshigiri, Iaido, Aikido, etc. The katana also contains a signature of the smith and does comes with a certificate. This Katana provides a perfect balance between traditional and modern materials.
